International Scouts have really come into their own over the last few years as interest in classic 4x4s has grown -- especially highly-optioned, good looking trucks like this one. And at slightly lower prices than comparable Early Broncos, they seem like a great investment, too.
This 1979 Scout II Rallye comes with a host of rare factory options, including the 345 cubic inch V8, rebuilt 727 torque flight automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, cruise control and factory air conditioning -- making it both comfortable and very easy to drive. Mechanically, the truck is in great shape. She cranks on the first try, runs great and shifts smoothly. All systems are working normally, and the a/c system just got brand new compressor. It's been converted to R-134a and blows ice cold. Four-wheel drive works great and the tires have plenty of tread left. Steering and brakes feel great.
I especially love the look of this Scout, and it shows just as well as it drives. Clad in Glacier Blue with correctly reproduced Rallye stripes, the paint is in very good condition. The soft top is also in very good shape, and the sides can be rolled up for an open-air driving experience -- or rolled down to seal out cold, hot or rainy weather. Door alignment is excellent, panels are straight with good gaps, trim is in good driver condition and the truck is rust-free both topside and underneath. The factory painted steel wheels with center caps have a tasteful blue pinstripe around the rims that match the truck.
The interior of this Scout is a testament to the easy life it has lived. The awesome plaid door panels and rear seat are totally original, and the front high-back bucket seats have been reupholstered in matching blue vinyl. The dash is in great shape, with all gauges and indicator lights working. The original AM/FM/cassette still works fine.
In short, this Scout is a correct, unmolested, turn-key example that needs nothing cosmetically or mechanically. It has been enjoyed by a long-term owner and comes with a well-documented maintenance history, including the original factory line-setting ticket.
