1971 International Scout - $24,900 - Atlanta, GA - Most of the Scouts you see on the road are Scout IIs that ran from 1971 to 1980 (and we have several nice examples in our showroom). But you see far fewer of the "original" Scout 80s and 800s -- and to find them upgraded with power options is even rarer. This example, a 1971 Scout 800B, is among the last first-generation scouts produced before being replaced by the longer Scout II in 1971. With approximately the same form factor as an Early Bronco, it's a fantastic platform for both urban and trail exploring.
The truck was originally built with a 304 cubic inch V8 mated to a T45 four-speed manual gearbox, both of which it retains. But what makes this Scout particularly special is that it has been upgraded with power steering, power disc brakes and Scout II axles. So you get all of the performance and handling benefits of the later trucks with the smaller form factor and retro style of the first-gen Scout.
There are even more choice upgrades, including custom front and rear bumpers with matching running boards, a top-of-the-line Warn 9.5cti winch, and new BF Goodrich 33x12.50 mud terrain tires on good-looking MT alloy wheels. The result is the best-equipped and best-driving Scout 800 I've ever seen.
Clad in correct Frost Green with a white top, this Scout has an awesome look and is super solid and rust-free. I'd characterize the paint as decent driver quality -- minor imperfections on close inspection but looks great on the whole. Glass, grille, trim and lenses are very good. The interior shows well, with factory bucket seats in newer vinyl in the correct pattern. The floors and the inside of the top have been professionally Line-X'd at considerable expense and they look fantastic.
